Welcome to my first post in a blog 🙂

Today tell about the Adaptive icon.

Some time ago I was given the task to do an adaptive icon. In the beginning, it seemed like a simple task but it did not happen. I read a lot of articles about how solved this problem. One day, my feminine intuition told me how to solve it.

I want to show you how to solve my problem.

In the beginning, we will present what the adaptive icon is and how to do the icons given step by step.

What is an Adaptive icon?

The adaptive icon was in Android 8.0 (API level 26).  There are icons that have the ability to change shape. The only disadvantage it has is that the given functionality works only on some devices with Android 8.0.  To learn more about the adaptive icon, click on the link.

How to check if your phone has the given functionality?

On the first, you have a phone only with Android 8.0 +. As I wrote, it works on some phones. One of the phones that are from the Pixel family. I show how to disable the adaptive icon on the phone.

    • Open emulator and select emulator with a device with the pixel.  The device is a device simulation. Choose and click. The emulator will start running.
  • After a while, the emulator appears to us.  The application icons are set to the default size.  In the beginning, we have to include the developer mode included. We should go to Settings > System > About device > 5 clicks section Build number. You are a developer 🙂

    • Now we can change the size icon.  Go to main screen our phone. Then click on the screen. Three tiles appear to me. We click on Home Settings. After a while, we go to the main settings of the phone. We choose the Change icon shape section. We will have a dialogue and choose the shape of our icon.

This is the end of the first part. The next part will be devoted to the implementation of the Adaptive icon on Xamarin.
